For someone who picked up a camera just over seven years ago Ash Newell has been busy. Given his first commercial break by his friend David Coverdale on the Whitesnake 2003 Reunion tour he produced a very strong catalog of work that found its way into two different tour books and on to numerous merchandising items that are still in demand today.  
In the time that has passed since then Ash has been busy working as Def Leppard’s official photographer, freelancing, shooting concerts, artist endorsement shots, building strong industry and artist relationships, working on assignment for various national and international music publications. “Most of the shoot is about the psychology of working with the artist.” “At times there will be a subject that just won’t interact and it proves a challenge to get the shot, but I absolutely love that challenge!” Over time he has worked with and continues his work on location, in the studio and on tour with a great variety of respected music names, some of which you can find sincere and amusing commentary from in the quotes section on this site.
 
On the rare occasion that he’s away from music, Ash likes to travel to shoot landscapes. His favorite locations are Scotland, Ireland and the California national parks such as Joshua Tree and the Northern Coastlines. “It’s a wonderful contrast to the pressures of the music business but sooner than later I’ll be found at a show banging my head in between shots.”
 
Ash Newell was born and raised in Yorkshire, England, moved to the USA in the mid 90’s and now resides in Texas.
